Iona & Will, Kirkandrews on Esk, Cumbria

Photographing weddings in Scotland and North England we have come across a fair few rainy wedding days, and they have taught us one thing - the rain is no match for love and happiness. Iona and Will's wedding was no different - the smiles never left their faces or their guests'.

From the minute we arrived to photograph the preparations there was laughter and excitement all around us. The ceremony was held in the breathtaking Kirkandrews on Esk church, which is nestled on the banks of the river Esk.

The bridal party were transported in real style to the reception in a nearby field - on the trailer at the back of a tractor! It was a fitting and funny touch which was perfectly in keeping with the lush green rural setting.

The speeches were poised and personal, poignant and very very funny - the perfect combination which had the entire room transfixed. They were transformed, too, before the night was over - by the contents of a dressing up box which brought a great deal of colour and laughter to the evening.

We wish Iona and Will a long and happy marriage (and a warm and sunny honeymoon) and look forward to showing them the rest of the photographs on their return.
